
Welcome to the town which takes pride in 135 year old tradition in tourism, the jewel of Croatia. Whichever road one may choose to come to Hvar, one would come across many a monument witnessing the rich historic heritage.
The main town square, St. Stephen square, lined by right and left side by fine palaces of the two oldest parts of the town, Groda and Burg, is considered the largest and most beautiful medevial square on the Adriatic coast. Furthermore it is crowned by the oldest communal theatre in Europe, finished and open to the public in the early 1612.
